Kevin Harvick Deliberately Reckless Move to Oust $228 Billion and Make Sponsor Regret

By the time Kevin Harvick hung up his racing helmet in 2023, his resume was golden. No sponsor would have said no to the veteran driver in the twilight years of his career. Yet once upon a time, things were different.

After Kevin Harvick stormed home the 2007 Daytona 500 title, he faced a long winless streak of two years. Fans began dropping off, and his $228 billion sponsor Pennzoil as well. But Kevin Harvick was determined to take control at the 2010 Talladega race. He bested Jamie McMurray on the final lap, pulling ahead for the race win by 3 feet.

Kevin Harvick recalled his desperate actions, all to teach Pennzoil a lesson. “We were in the tandem drafting. You see myself and Jamie McMurray here. And this exact move that happened, I actually tried it in practice, where you just slide across the back bumper and just get the car to wiggle a little bit. And I got the back of Jamie’s car to wiggle just enough to get underneath him…But I was on like a 109, 110-race winless streak at that time.”

That drab record was why Pennzoil-Shell dropped a bomb on race day. “Shell had told us that we were not coming back. They were out as the sponsor and then we go out.”

Caitlyn Vince quipped angrily, “Why would someone do that the day of a race? Is that normal?” And Harvick explained, “I think it’s probably just when that meeting was scheduled.”

But Vince’s rising rage was satisfied with the story’s climax. Kevin Harvick won the race and ended up with a new sponsor. “So in that fashion, we went back. And as we typically did at that time to just really show them how we felt about it. We went out on the race so that we could get a new sponsor…Wound up with Budweiser. So that was a wild race.”

In a further twist of events, Pennzoil-Shell officials soon openly admitted their remorse.

After leaving Kevin Harvick’s No. 29 car, Pennzoil became the primary partner for Penske Racing’s No. 22 car driven by Kurt Busch. But Harvick’s restored energy gave them second thoughts, and by the end of 2011, a unique situation developed. Suspicions were there that Harvick could win the 2010 Cup championship, and that put Pennzoil in a tight spot.

“It’s definitely awkward,” said Heidi Massey-Bong, Pennzoil’s senior business adviser for NASCAR sponsorships. “We’re leaving somebody who I very much respect and appreciate what they’ve done in the sport, and going to somebody else.”

“They’re a Bunch of Morons”—Dale Earnhardt Jr Baffled by His Employee’s Texas Hipocrisy Despite “Entertaining” Issue

This weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway delivered much-needed action after two weeks of rather lackluster racing. The absolute carnage in the Cup and Xfinity series races didn’t just bring relief to fans hoping for better racing; it also proved to be a golden moment for Chase Elliott, who won his first race since the 2022 season. That said, not every entity in NASCAR believed that racing this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway showed signs of returning to its glorious past.

On Dirty Mo Media’s Door Bumper Clear, the hosts proved tough critics of racing in Texas, pointing out room for improvement even with all the chaos and carnage that ensued. Despite fans acknowledging that this weekend offered a glimpse into NASCAR’s glory days, the DBC crew felt that the racing could’ve been better and drivers could have been more aggressive. However, the boss at Dirty Mo Media wasn’t having any of his employees’ controversial takes.

Dale Earnhardt Jr jumps to Ryan Sieg’s defense with his witty sarcasm

As NASCAR headed toward sunny Texas, expectations were sky-high owing to building pressure from insiders and veterans over NASCAR and SMI’s management decisions. But like every time the action seems to die down this season, it picks back up in higher gear just as quickly. And as Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 came to an end, Sam Mayer’s historic win over Ryan Sieg by.002 seconds showed signs of just that. Unlike Atlanta, there were no late cautions or overtimes that played into the photo finish, showcasing how great racing truly was this weekend.

However, it wasn’t enough to please the Door Bumper Clear crew, who felt Ryan Sieg could have been more aggressive in his defense against Dale Earnhardt Jr’s rising star toward the end. This seems to have rubbed the JR Motorsports/Dirty Mo Media boss the wrong way. Going over DBC’s comments about the Texas Xfinity and Cup races, he shared on the Dale Jr Download, “They (DBC) also said that the race was entertaining, but it wasn’t a ‘good’ race; what the hell does that even mean?”

Throughout the last two laps, Ryan Sieg had his all and, in many’s eyes, was the more aggressive driver of the two as he pushed and shoved to retake the lead from Mayer on the inside. Evidently, Dale Earnhardt Jr was confused by the contradicting comments coming out of the DBC studio. He stated, “It was entertaining but it wasn’t good? That’s an oxymoron, right? Which makes sense cuz they’re a bunch of morons.”

The JR Motorsports owner highlighted the #39 Ford driver’s aggression and couldn’t help but channel his frustration into sarcasm. Junior added, “Sieg wasn’t aggressive enough, as they’re grinding against the fence into the fu***n flag stand? The finish wasn’t close enough? Smoke, fire, tires torn up, cars torn up, could’ve been better, could’ve been more aggressive. The guy gets out, and says, ‘I ran him into the wall’. That’s not aggressive enough? You’ve gotta turn them upside down, Sieg, everybody knows that.”

Though Junior clearly didn’t side with the Door Bumper Clear crew on the racing at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, he wasn’t one to outright deny that there was a little room for improvement.

What’s keeping Texas from becoming ‘great again’?

For many, the race at Texas marked the redemption of Chase Elliott, but did it also mean the same for one of NASCAR’s most beloved tracks? Dale Earnhardt Junior is certainly optimistic about good things to come. Over the past few seasons, Texas has gained notoriety amongst fans for some lackluster racing, but it seems like the resurfacing of the track could turn the tides back in its favor.

Going over the redemption arc that Texas Motor Speedway seems to be embarking on, Junior shared his delight with how the new surface has helped. He stated, “Texas has been beat up by me, by everybody, right? The fans. Texas has been going through a little rough patch, and that’s an understatement. Texas is good again. I think it’s good again and it’s just gonna continue to get better…(…)…but one of the things that I saw that made me very happy was how gray the surface was, meaning that the surface is aged and slick, abrasive.”

The veteran highlighted the rubber laid down on the track as a good sign of the track holding its grip, but this is also where an area of improvement presented itself. Junior revealed, “Where the left side tire runs, no rubber is going down. That’s a problem, something Goodyear needs to work on. I would love to see that left-side tire putting rubber down just like the right-side is.”

Junior felt that the tire manufacturer needed to help produce a tire package that suited Texas’ surface better. He added, “If you watched the race and watched the cars go through the corner, the track is rubbering in but where the lefts run, probably the bottom three foot or four foot of the race track, is still clean. There’s no rubber being put down; the left-side tire is too hard. So there are some things to learn there and improvements that can be made.”

Hamilton in a quandary: “Have to talk to Toto”

Since his announced move to Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has been hanging between chairs. The early timing prevents the seven-time world champion from concentrating fully on his tasks at Mercedes. A conversation should now provide clarity.

After Lewis Hamilton announced his move from Mercedes to Ferrari on February 1st , the seven-time Formula 1 world champion is in a dilemma.

The Brit is currently concentrating on his last season with the Silver Arrows, but the time will come when he will also have to plan the coming season with Ferrari – and of course Mercedes will do everything in its power to ensure that Hamilton does not provide any details about the new Silver Arrow for the coming one year gets to see.

A 25-year-old racing game is too hard: even Lewis Hamilton despairs of the tutorial

Old games can be really cool. Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton also discovered this when he tried out some retro racing games.

You’ve probably all experienced situations like this: you have that one game or that one mission that could drive you absolutely to despair.

There are some classics, such as the “damn train” from GTA San Andreas, which you should catch up with CJ, or the little remote-controlled RC helicopter from Vice City that just didn’t want to fly the way you thought it would. Let’s just hope that GTA 6 just brings back Vice City , but leaves out the RC helicopter.

Lewis Hamilton was also confronted with such a classic. The Formula 1 legend discussed some racing games from his childhood on YouTube, as you can see in the video on YouTube here:

Hamilton fails because of the infamous “Driver” garage
What does Hamilton play? In the video, the racing driver plays various retro racing games. Hamilton certainly has experience with games; he says that today he mainly plays Call of Duty and Fortnite. But he also played games like Gran Turismo, Mortal Kombat, Mario, Street Fighter, Crash Bandicoot and GTA.

One of these retro games is Driver, which was released in 1999 for the original PlayStation. And it is exactly the game that makes Hamilton despair:

“Driver was crazy,” Hamilton remembers when he tried out the game. In the garage intro level, however, he quickly realizes that he can hardly figure out what he needs to do. After a few tries he says: “Damn, I didn’t do a good job. Time’s up, I can’t even make it through the first level.”

Not the only one: In fact, the garage level in “Driver” is notorious for being the most difficult part of the game. For years we have been reading reviews from players who emphasize that they never actually got through the tutorial and therefore failed early on in the game.
