The 35-year-old was the strong favorite to claim his seventh title in Rome ahead of the French Open, which begins on May 28. However, the top seed looked distracted and tense out on the court as he was beaten 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 by rising star Rune on the clay surface.

And during the clash, there appeared to be some tension between Djokovic and his coach Ivanisevic after the Serbian angrily shouted in the direction of his box

According to Bosnian outlet Sportal, Djokovic is said to have shouted “everyone is constantly in confusion” in Croatian towards his box, suggesting there was little clarity in the coaching he was receiving on the court.

Ivanisevic is then reported to have responded angrily to Djokovic, shouting: “What the f*** is wrong with you? Play, play, play… get away from the ball!”

It is certainly not the first time Djokovic has laid the blame at the feet of his Croatian coach. Earlier this year at the Australian Open, the Serbian was spotted glaring at Ivanisevic at certain points during the final against Stefanos Tsitsipas and shouted at him when missing crucial shots in the match.

And in Rome, the cracks had already started to appear when Djokovic overcame Cameron Norrie in the previous round, despite being some way off his best form.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner was far from happy with the British number one and was seen staring down his opponent on several occasions, suggesting all may not be well in the Djokovic camp.

Djokovic was also treated for an unknown injury problem during that match and he gave a tetchy response when quizzed on the matter afterward, refusing to divulge on what the issue was. It did not appear to hamper him against Rune, though, who was simply the better player on the day. Although Djokovic did call a medical timeout during the second set and was seen taking a pill given to him by one of the physios before going on to win the set.

With Djokovic crashing out and Rafael Nadal missing the tournament due to injury, it will be the first time in 19 years that the Rome singles final is contested without one of the remaining ‘Big Three’ members being involved.

After seeing off Djokovic, Rune faces Norwegian star Casper Ruud in the semi-final, with a mouthwatering encounter between Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas possible for the other last-four tie as the pair negotiate their quarter-final matches on Thursday.

Mick Schumacher made his first appearance in a McLaren Formula 1 car as he conducted development work for Pirelli at Silverstone today

The former Haas driver, now the reserve for McLaren’s engine supplier Mercedes, sampled the MCL38 two days after the British Grand Prix. As wet conditions persisted throughout the day he completed 53 laps and set a best time of 1’37.428.

McLaren was one of three teams running at the track. Alexander Albon logged the most laps, covering 86 in his Williams and setting a best time of 1’41.116. Haas reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi lapped in 1’42.124 and did 62 laps.

Pirelli intended to use the test to finalise the construction of its 2025 tyres, the last which will be produced to the current widths. F1’s official tyre supplier is producing slightly softer versions of its hardest compounds for next year.

However the weather conditions meant slick tyre developments was impossible. They took the opportunity to assess new intermediate tyre constructions and look into how well they ran when used without heating blankets.

The test is Pirelli’s sixth this season. It will continue tomorrow when Lando Norris will replace Schumacher in the McLaren, Albon will hand the Williams over to his team mate Logan Sargeant and Oliver Bearman will drive for Haas.

Pirelli’s testing schedule will continue at Monza where it plans to evaluate the new C6 tyre compound it will introduce next year which is designed to better suit street circuits.

“This year is very busy because we have to develop the 2025 tyres but also to start the 2026 development,” Pirelli motorsport director Mario Isola told media including RaceFans at Silverstone.

“I believe that we have a good product now that is very close to the targets that Formula 1 defined for us. That was thanks to the test days that, after some years, we have been able to get. This is telling you how important it is to test.”

Max Verstappen spotted in class act with Lewis Hamilton’s father

Max Verstappen was spotted engaging in a handshake with Anthony Hamilton after the British Grand Prix on Sunday after his son, Lewis Hamilton, beat the Dutchman to the top step of the podium in front of a sold-out home crowd.

Hamilton and Verstappen have enjoyed their fair share of battles over the years and clashed multiple times on track during their legendary 2021 title fight. However, despite this, there has always been an underlying respect between the pair, and this has been epitomised by the behaviour of the seven-time world champion’s father.

After his son found himself on the wrong end of a controversial end to the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, both Hamiltons conducted themselves impeccably. Anthony was pictured shaking hands with Verstappen, and his father Jos, expressing his respect and congratulating the Dutchman on his first Drivers’ Championship crown.

Nearly three years later, Hamilton Snr shared another handshake with the Dutchman, who is now a three-time world champion en route to his fourth. The 26-year-old hunted his rival down relentlessly during the final stint but could not bridge the gap to the Mercedes driver, who duly ended his winless streak.

Hamilton’s victory at Silverstone was a monumental one on many levels. By taking the chequered flag first, the 39-year-old became the first-ever driver to win nine times at a single event, and the first to pass 300 Grand Prix starts and stand on the top step of the podium afterwards.

It also ended a 945-day wait for a victory. Hamilton’s previous trip to the top step of the rostrum came at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with Mercedes’ miserable 2022 and 2023 campaigns making it nearly impossible for the seven-time world champion to fight at the head of the field.

Verstappen appreciated the significance of this result for his former title rival. The Dutchman was first on the scene to congratulate Hamilton after the chequered flag, pulling up alongside the Mercedes driver and expressing his respect, before Lando Norris followed suit.

Fans Has Been Filling Petition to Demand Brutal Punishment for Chase Elliott

Safe to say, many fans were angry with Chase Elliott’s shenanigans. Some even called for a drastic measure against the driver, writing, “Obviously they need to suspend Chase Elliott for this.” Another social media user was baffled that two instances of the same offence is garnering different reactions, and commented, “Wait, did Chase do the same thing as Bubba with no one saying a word about it?”

Notably, NBC might have something to do with the different levels of criticism that the two drivers are facing. As per Heavy.com, since Alex Bowman was the race winner and the incident happened during his victory lap, the cameras were focused on him (as expected to be), putting Wallace’s actions in clear view. Hence, Elliott’s actions went largely unnoticed initially, with Daniel Hemric dashcam turning out to be one of the few video evidences!

One critic took the harsher route and demanded strict action against the driver, saying, “Chase Elliott is a th*g and should be parked for the rest of the season.” Another NASCAR fan also jeered at the HMS driver for being able to dish out punishment and not take it, “LOL. Don’t give it if you can’t take it right back Chase. This is a nothing burger.”

In a post-race interview, Daniel Suarez did share that Elliott was the one who instigated the on-track altercation. “We got together right there in the last couple of corners. He pushed me a little bit, and then I pushed him with all my intention, and I ended up hitting him pretty good on the very last corner. My bad on that,” the #99 driver revealed.

Finally, someone noted that, “Chase got what he deserved.” There weren’t too many willing to lend a sympathetic ear, with another user writing, “So you’re telling me chase started some cr*p, got dumped for it, and wants us to feel bad for him? What a pity party.”

In another similar occurrence, the 28-year-old was suspended for one race last year after he intentionally wrecked Denny Hamlin during the Coca-Cola 600. In 2022, Bubba Wallace also faced a one race suspension for intentionally wrecking Kyle Larson in a “dangerous act” of retaliation. But this time, though, it seems both #23 and #9 might be let off the hook by NASCAR, since both were post-race incidents. If we are to look at history, Martin Truex Jr serves as the biggest example for his actions at Richmond in April this year. After a dominant MTJ lost to Denny Hamlin, he vented his frustration by slamming Kyle Larson’s door, and bumping the #11’s rear three times. However, the driver escaped penalty!

Looking at this, do you think either Bubba Wallace or Chase Elliott will face the same fate? Let us know what you think!
