The Los Angeles Lakers are in a bit of a difficult spot as they make decisions this NBA offseason.

This team needs to improve. With that in mind, they are bereft of draft capital. It’s hard to see an avenue for this team to get better.

After all, their key players may be untouchable. If the Lakers were to trade LeBron James, for example, it would have to mean a full-scale rebuild. Otherwise, they’d do well to keep him.

Is the same true for Anthony Davis? He’s one of the best defensive big men in the NBA.

On the other hand, the Lakers could move him in a bid to kickstart their offense.

Could they send him to the Chicago Bulls?

The Chicago Bulls are in a bit of a difficult spot, too.

In fact, they may be in a worse one. Say what you will about the Lakers – they just advanced to the Western Conference Finals. On the other hand, the Bulls didn’t even make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, this roster is expensive. The Bulls are built around three veterans who make big money. LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic did not make a good return on the team’s investment.

Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal

Perhaps the Bulls should rebuild. With that said, this front office has not shown much of an appetite for a long-term process.

When they acquired these veterans, they were not a winning team. The Bulls decided to force the issue. Here, we’ve got them following that trend.

Some might argue that they failed by doubling down on the offensive end. Between LaVine, DeRozan, and Vucevic, there isn’t a lot of stopping power. This deal fixes that.

In fact, it’s got them landing one of the best two-way big men in the NBA.

Davis is also a Chicago native – chances are, the Bulls will be able to retain him if this all works out.

Draymond Green’s podcast has become an unfiltered look behind the scenes of all sorts of NBA conflicts and messy situations. That may not have been the intended focus when Green hosted his head coach, Steve Kerr, on a recent episode but that’s where they landed.

In talking about the Miami Heat and their NBA Finals run, Kerr contrasted their culture with that of the Warriors and seemed to have someone specific in mind as he talked about players complaining about playing time.

“None of those guys on Miami are sitting there saying, ‘Well, I didn’t play,’ or ‘Man, they put in so-and-so.’ They’re just all about winning. And you know this from our groups that we’ve had, when you have that championship mentality, every guy is bought in, every guy is just trying to win, nobody — nobody cares about any of that stuff. You don’t go in the locker room saying, ‘Well, I should have played more.’ You just wanna win.”

How sure are we that Steve Kerr was talking about Jonathan Kuminga and Jordan Poole?

Kuminga’s playing time, or lack thereof, was a constant sore point across his second season. Kuminga played in three fewer games than his rookie season and racked up several DNP-CDs in the postseason and both he and Poole were accused of ‘pouting’ over their lack of minutes by Chris Broussard.

Poole struggled mightily with his shooting in the playoffs and also saw his minutes cut from 30.0 per game in the regular season to 21.8 in the postseason.

The Warriors may explore trades for Jordan Poole this offseason but could find the market lacking with his poor postseason performance and weighty contract. Kuminga is a much more appealing trade target but the Warriors may be more interested in keeping him, especially with his inexpensive rookie contract and several more years of team control.

These allegations about LeBron won’t bother him much as the couple has often stayed away from such allegations.
