Next weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix looks set to be the last in Formula 1, at least for the time being.

The circuit is looking set to be dropped from the 2023 calendar, with the venue to be replaced by either South Africa or another money-making race.

The circuit organisers have already planned for next weekend’s race to be its best event yet, after following advice from the FIA to make the GP more entertaining.

The organisers have looked at the “American way” of hosting a Grand Prix, as well as making track changes to Eau Rouge.

After last year’s washout due to torrential rain, the circuit has also had better drainage installed, to ensure that what happened last year doesn’t happen again.

Despite everything the circuit organisers are doing to make it better for both fans and drivers, Spa still looks set for the axe.

A number of drivers are furious with the yet to be announced decision, including Lando Norris, who is half-Belgian.

Norris “loves” the circuit and insists that there are more important things than “money”, a clear message to championship CEO Stefano Domenicali.

“I personally have a lot to do with Spa of course and I love the circuit,” said the 22-year-old.
“I went to Belgium for many years and spent a lot of time there with my family. I’m looking forward to experiencing the changes and the new tarmac, and a new grandstand at Raidillon. I always look forward to Spa. It’s one of the coolest circuits all season.

“It would be a shame to lose Spa. A lot of things these days are just about money – that’s the problem. It’s a business. It’s a historic race for F1, the same as Monaco.

“As far as I know, they don’t even pay in Monaco and it’s still on the calendar – same with Monza. So I think Spa should always be there as long as Formula 1 exists.”

Sebastian Vettel is also disappointed with the news that Spa looks set to disappear from the calendar, with the four-time World Champion believing people would rather race at Spa than Sochi, Russia.

“Spa is an amazing track,” said the 35-year-old.

“I don’t know any driver that doesn’t like driving at Spa whereas I do know drivers that don’t like the circuit in Russia – not because it’s Russia but because the track is a bit all the same. That (losing the Belgian GP) would be a shame. I have no vote in this but my vote would be to go to Spa. But it would be wrong to lose Spa on so many levels.”

Should the historic race at Spa be dropped, then it may be only a matter of time until the likes of Monza and Monte-Carlo are also axed by the series.

Pierre Gasly “can’t wrap” his head around why Spa is set to go, with the answer seemingly down to money.

“Personally I don’t think it has anything to do with safety, but I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s disappearing from the calendar,” said the 26-year-old.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has faced backlash over his treatment of Spa, with the venue pulling out all the stops to make it an incredible spectacle worth a spot on the calendar.

The former Ferrari team principal has explained that the sport is trying to “open up to whole world” and that he’s not “selling the soul of F1”.

“I am not selling the soul of Formula 1,” he said.

“That is the normal change. We are opening up to the whole world. Money is important everywhere. For us too. But we don’t just look at it – the whole package has to be right. If we only looked at the bank account, the racing calendar would definitely look different.”

Kevin Harvick Changes Voice About His Retirement

Nascar champion Kevin Harvick is preparing for the biggest change of his professional career. It’s bigger than when he began racing full-time in the Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing, and it’s larger than becoming the ace driver at Stewart-Haas Racing.

Harvick is ready, and he’s excited about the next challenge of his life as he steps away from full-time Nascar racing at the end of the season.

“I have no regrets,” Harvick said, reflecting on his retirement.

The decision, he said, mulled over his head for the last five years before finally deciding now is the right time to hang up his helmet. The man who’s been one of the voices of the garage area for the last few years is now set to be the voice of Nascar on TV. He’s headed to the Nascar on Fox booth, where he’ll serve as an analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Mike Joy and former teammate Clint Bowyer.

“Every week has been like, ‘That was the last Daytona 500, the last Coke 600,’” Harvick said. “I haven’t gotten out of the car once and said, ‘I don’t know if this is the right thing to do.’ Part of that is because I know I’ll be sitting in the TV booth next year. We have all of our business in line, the structure for everything we have and our people. It’s a great time to transition and be part of what my kids have going on, and I’ll help DeLana with them. I’m enjoying every week, but I’m not disappointed it’s the last one.”

Harvick is having a solid final season with Stewart-Haas Racing. He is only one of two Ford drivers — the other being Ryan Blaney — to rank in the top 10 in the standings through the first 15 races.

Currently, Harvick is on pace to perform better in his final season than four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon did in his 2015 retirement tour. That season, Gordon won his final event with just four races left in the season, locking him into the championship battle for the last time. Gordon ended his final full season with five top fives and 21 top 10s with a 13.7 average finish.

Harvick has shown that age hasn’t slowed him down one bit. As the leader of Stewart-Haas Racing, he’s been the one to find speed while his three teammates sit 25th or worse in the standings, though Chase Briscoe received one of the biggest penalties in Nascar history following the Coca-Cola 600 and was docked 120 points.

But even with strong performances to start the year, Harvick is not changing his decision. He will not pull a Tom Brady and return for another final chapter.

“As we’ve gone to each race, we started planning and put the pieces in a play about a year ago to officially say there is no more maybe and there are no more extensions,” Harvick said. “This is it.”

Harvick may be even busier in his post-driving career than he is at the moment.

KHI Management, his sports management firm, is expanding. The pieces are in place to have Harvick himself take on an enhanced role, serving as a mentor for the athletes and drivers he works with. Among the firm’s clients are potential future drivers at SHR, including Harrison Burton, Todd Gilliland, and, most recently, Josh Berry. Berry, who drives for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series and filled in for Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman with Hendrick Motorsports in the Cup Series this year, is reportedly finalizing a deal to take over Harvick’s car in 2024.

The team at KHI, which includes three people who have worked with Harvick for 25 years, has been hard at work for the last year to prepare him for what’s next. And he leaned on SHR co-owner Tony Stewart about how to enjoy his final season.

“We put logos into place for racetracks, fans, and merchandise,” Harvick said. “We put a lot of pieces into play for the small things that we didn’t want to creep up as we started the season. Stewart-Haas Racing has been a huge part of everything that we have going on because of everything they did with Tony.

“Getting advice from Tony and everybody on his team about things they did like and didn’t like, how they did things, what was the most distracting. Our goal from the beginning was to make sure the distractions didn’t get in the way of the competition.”

Along with his Nascar on Fox gig, Harvick will be traveling to his son’s races. Until now, he’s only seen 11-year-old Keelan Harvick compete in Europe twice. Now, it’s time to focus on being a dad and a coach.

Harvick said, “Being able to spend more time with his racing and watch Piper do what she wants to do and not have my wife look at me with the evil eye while she’s traveling to watch Keelan race. I want to have flexibility in my schedule to spend more time with all of them. They’re at a pivotal point in their lives where they need both of their parents to be part of it as much as possible. Getting out of the competition side allows me to have some flexibility in my schedule.”

To top it off, Harvick is also one of the new owners of the CARS Tour, alongside Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, and Justin Marks.

“I’ll probably be busier, but it’s a different busy,” Harvick said. “This is the part that’s hard for people to understand: you see Sunday and you see the race, but you don’t see all of the work during the week.

“Not being responsible for that competitive mindset will make my brain function a lot easier. That’s the main part that will free up the mental capacity that’s absorbed by the competition side. The only way to be good at this is to do it everyday and be involved with it at a high level, because the more details you can cover and the better that’s structured, the better you’re going to be.”

As Harvick prepares for the second half of the Nascar season, his eyes are on the championship trophy. There’s only one way for him to go out, he believes, and that’s on top.

The collaboration between Denny Hamlin and Dale Earnhardt Jr has been paying dividends. The Actions Detrimental podcast is a great hit among the followers of the sport. As a part of the Dirty Mo Media house, the podcast continues to captivate listeners. But that was only the case till now, as we now figure out that the podcast even has some of the top drivers intrigued, like Brad Keselowski.

To take a step back and give you proper context, Hamlin’s very recent initiative, which he spoke about on his podcast, was a successful proposal of a bracket of five rounds, similar to the NCAA Tournament. But who better to explain it than Hamlin himself, right?

Seeing the positive response from fans, Dirty Mo Media made Denny Hamlin’s Bracket Challenge a reality by enabling users to enter their NASCAR bracket predictions for the upcoming five races from Kansas to Sonoma. Former champion Brad Keselowski is also one of the famous participants in the competition. Knowing he is up against an HMS star, he put up an interesting offer in front of the JGR driver.

Leaving Money Aside, Brad Keselowski Asks Denny Hamlin for Something Much More Fun!
The bracket challenge, popularized through #DHBracketChallenge, has gained much traction from the fandom. Productions from Dale Jr’s media house have been following the pattern of delivering the goods.

The final round of the bracket challenge sees Keselowski face off against the Hendrick Motorsports driver, William Byron. The announcement of the fixture through Twitter attracted Keselowski. Replying to the post, he said,” How much do I get if we win this?”

It was at this point that Denny Hamlin interjected to reveal the aspirations of the project. With a projection of a higher revenue than the current edition, Hamlin portrays a hope for a million-dollar cash prize.

Shrugging off the money matter, Keselowski instead offers a lucrative deal from his side. He first demanded mere presence on Hamlin’s podcast and then went on to appeal to Dale Earnhardt Jr.

His tweet read, “Can’t speak for @WilliamByron but If I win, No money required. I’ll even come on your podcast if you agree to do this. Seems like a fair deal.
