F1 team make Schumacher RETURN a…
According to reports from The Mirror, James Vowles, the team principal of Williams, is satisfied with the progress made by the team’s American driver, Logan Sargeant, despite not securing any points in the first 10 races of the season.
Although Sargeant has yet to score a point in the 2023 season, he came close to achieving that milestone at the British Grand Prix, where he finished in 11th place, showcasing the significant improvements made by the Williams team. While Mick Schumacher, who scored points for Haas last season, is available, it seems unlikely that he will be given a race seat in the near future.
Meanwhile, AlphaTauri made a swift decision to replace their struggling driver Nyck de Vries after the Silverstone round. The Dutchman was relieved of his duties, and Daniel Ricciardo was named as his immediate replacement starting from the Hungarian Grand Prix. This leaves Sargeant as the only full-time driver in the 2023 season who has not yet scored a point.
Sargeant’s rookie year in Formula 1 has been challenging, as he would have preferred to spend another year in Formula 2 to further develop his skills. However, the Florida-born driver has remained determined and focused on making progress. It is worth noting that Alex Albon’s impressive performances with Williams have inadvertently made Sargeant’s rookie season appear more challenging than it actually is. Nevertheless, Sargeant will need to score points at some stage to secure his position in the sport beyond the current season.
Mick Schumacher carried out a test of McLaren’s MCL35M during some private track time in Portugal earlier this week.
Mick Schumacher recently had the opportunity to test McLaren’s MCL35M during a private session at the Portimao track in Portugal. As a reserve driver for Mercedes, Schumacher hinted at his interest in further McLaren involvement after getting behind the wheel of an older McLaren F1 car for testing.
While Formula 1’s strict testing rules prevent the use of current cars, there is more flexibility when it comes to testing older models. Under the regulations, private testing with a two-year-old car is permitted. Therefore, McLaren arranged for Schumacher to travel to Portugal and conduct a private test using their 2021 MCL35M, the same car that Daniel Ricciardo drove to victory at Monza.
McLaren stated that the purpose of the test was to help Schumacher prepare for potential races with McLaren, should the need arise. The test aimed to familiarize him with McLaren’s work ethics, protocols, and overall team dynamics. Prior to the test, Schumacher visited McLaren’s factory to undergo a seat fitting and plan a tailored run schedule for the MCL35M.
During his visit, Schumacher had the opportunity to engage in discussions with team boss Andrea Stella, who previously worked as his father Michael Schumacher’s performance engineer at Ferrari during his dominant period in Formula 1 from 2002 to 2006.

Details regarding Schumacher’s performance and lap times during the test were not disclosed by McLaren. However, Schumacher expressed his satisfaction with the experience of driving a car produced by the team that his father had often competed against during his own Formula 1 career.
Schumacher shared his thoughts on the test, saying, “My first test with McLaren was great, and we completed numerous laps. It was a fantastic experience working with the team. They have a great group of people. Before the test, we went through the entire schedule during my visit to the factory. We focused on areas that are important for my development and for the team to get to know me better. We explored various aspects, mainly focusing on driving style and understanding the tires. We used academy tires, which are slightly different, but they provided a great learning experience to enhance my skills, which was our primary objective.”
In conclusion, Mick Schumacher’s test with McLaren provided him with valuable track time and an opportunity to familiarize himself with the team’s operations. Although specific details of the test were not disclosed, Schumacher’s positive feedback and the team’s willingness to engage with him indicate a potentially fruitful partnership between the talented driver and McLaren.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Ended Up on the Wrong Side of the Law, charged with making trouble with two policemen
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Ended Up on the Wrong Side of the Law, charged with making trouble with two policemen
NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr. and 2023 Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney were recently on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and talked about the Netflix special NASCAR: Full Speed among other things. During their conversation, Dale Jr. opened up about his traffic violations and revealed the interesting encounters that he had with 4 different police officers.
He took a trip down memory lane to remember how he got his first speeding ticket and quipped that he had received not one, but four tickets between the ages of 16 and 18. He told Clarkson, “I had a few issues in the first two years of having my license, from 16 to 18. I got four tickets, and the funny thing about it is, is that it was four different officers who told me they all gave my dad his first ticket, so I don’t know how that is possible.”
Dale Jr.’s father Dale Earnhardt was one of the biggest names in stock car racing since its advent in the 20th century. While it is natural for anyone to be known as having interacted with the legend, Dale Jr. can’t quite put a finger on how four different officers could have given him his first ticket. However, he did have a more important lesson to take away from the tickets he got
“I learned my lesson,” he affirmed. “I haven’t had any problems since then.” Dale Jr. is one of the executive producers of Full Speed. The docuseries has been very well received by drivers and fans since its premiere last month.

The instantaneous impact that Full Speed has been having on NASCAR
During the last race weekend, several drivers voiced their support for the Netflix docuseries and said that it was helping the sport generate new fans. One of the series main characters, Denny Hamlin said, “I thought it was a very good introduction for new fans. Because they also were kind of teaching you some 101 stuff, like, here’s how this works.”
Xfinity Series racer and Live Fast Motorsports co-owner B.J. McLeod compared it to the Hollywood hit Days of Thunder and mentioned that it had the best potential since the movie to attract new fans. He said, “It’s something that people should see, and I think that it was an unbelievable opportunity for NASCAR to have that on Netflix.”
The docuseries chronicled the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoff run and featured others including Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Ross Chastain, and Dale Jr., himself.
