However, that possibility could end quickly if one NBA executive’s words are to be believed. Even though Wiggs has been a great addition for the Dubs, one person recently claimed that they could look to move him away given how coveted he is after the 2021/22 NBA season.
Talking with Sean Deveney of Heavy, this anonymous executive explains that the Warriors won’t move him right now, but they know that Wiggins can bring a big return if they decide to part ways.
“Obviously, they are not going to move him now, off of a championship where he was such a big contributor,” said the exec. “But he is at his maximum value right now. It would be the right time to trade him, just, they can’t really do that.”

The executive adds that perhaps after the work on a contract extension, the Warriors will pull the trigger and get rid of the former No. 1 overall pick.
“It is likely that they will talk about an extension, maybe get him locked up, then look to trade him when his contract is secure.”
After several years of disappointment in Minnesota, Wiggins is seen with different eyes now, and many teams would be interested in acquiring his services if he doesn’t come to an agreement with the Warriors.
“It is funny, he was just viewed as contract filler in potential trades for so long but he is now someone other teams want, he has completely remade his image,” said the exec. “He’s 27. If you are the Nets or Mavs or Pelicans someone looking to be competitive quickly, he’s got to be on your list.
