Chase Elliott’s latest move inevitably sent waves across NASCAR World
Chase Elliott’s latest move inevitably sent waves across NASCAR World . Chase Elliott Surges to 17th Place in NASCAR Cup Series Standings for 2023 Season
In the fast-paced world of NASCAR, every twist and turn can dramatically impact a driver’s season. Chase Elliott, the seasoned driver from Hendrick Motorsports, has made a significant move in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series standings. Currently positioned in 17th place, this achievement marks the highest possible standing for Elliott in the 2023 season.
Elliott’s Playoff Miss:
Elliott’s journey to this point has been one of both resilience and challenges. He found himself on the outside looking in during this year’s playoffs due to a combination of factors. His inability to secure a regular-season victory and missing seven out of the 26 regular-season races ultimately led to his exclusion from the playoffs. It was a tough break for a driver who consistently ranked among the top 10 in average points per regular-season race.

A Remarkable Resurgence:
Despite missing out on the playoffs, Elliott’s resurgence has been nothing short of remarkable. With an impressive average points per race of 29.00, he has overtaken Ty Gibbs, the Joe Gibbs Racing rookie, for the 17th spot. This achievement comes after the round of 12 opener at Texas Motor Speedway, where Elliott outperformed Gibbs, who trails by 15 points. Elliott’s consistently high performance demonstrates his unwavering commitment to excellence.
Total Points and Rankings:
Intriguingly, when looking at total points scored, excluding playoff resets, Elliott not only stands ahead of fellow non-playoff driver Ty Gibbs but also surpasses playoff contenders Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of JTG Daugherty Racing and Michael McDowell of Front Row Motorsports. This impressive feat underscores Elliott’s enduring talent and determination. Additionally, his points per race average still holds strong, securing him the seventh position in the series overall.
A Quest for Redemption:
For a driver who led the series in wins just a year ago with five victories, Chase Elliott is undoubtedly eager to cap off the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season on a high note. While he may not be in contention for the driver’s championship, his No. 9 team is still actively participating in the owner playoffs. This unique circumstance arises from the points accrued by Elliott’s replacements during his seven missed starts, which contributed to the No. 9 team’s regular-season point total.

A Team Effort:
It’s important to note that despite Bubba Wallace making the playoffs, it was Elliott’s No. 9 team that secured the 16th and final spot in the owner playoffs. As they advanced to the round of 12, Elliott’s sights are set on achieving his sixth consecutive winning season, and potentially, a sixth consecutive season with multiple wins. This quest for victory, though not for himself in the driver’s standings, keeps Elliott and his team actively engaged in the championship fight.
Current Status:
As of now, the No. 9 team finds itself just below the round of 8 cut line following an 11th-place finish in the round of 12 opener at Texas. Meanwhile, the No. 23 team holds the top non-playoff spot in the owner standings, maintaining a comfortable lead over the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team, which sits in 18th place.
In conclusion, Chase Elliott’s ascent to 17th place in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series standings is a testament to his skill, perseverance, and the unyielding spirit of competition in the world of NASCAR. While he may not be in the hunt for the driver’s championship, Elliott’s pursuit of excellence keeps the racing world’s eyes firmly fixed on his journey and the enduring legacy of the No. 9 team.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Ended Up on the Wrong Side of the Law, charged with making trouble with two policemen
NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr. and 2023 Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney were recently on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and talked about the Netflix special NASCAR: Full Speed among other things. During their conversation, Dale Jr. opened up about his traffic violations and revealed the interesting encounters that he had with 4 different police officers.
He took a trip down memory lane to remember how he got his first speeding ticket and quipped that he had received not one, but four tickets between the ages of 16 and 18. He told Clarkson, “I had a few issues in the first two years of having my license, from 16 to 18. I got four tickets, and the funny thing about it is, is that it was four different officers who told me they all gave my dad his first ticket, so I don’t know how that is possible.”
Dale Jr.’s father Dale Earnhardt was one of the biggest names in stock car racing since its advent in the 20th century. While it is natural for anyone to be known as having interacted with the legend, Dale Jr. can’t quite put a finger on how four different officers could have given him his first ticket. However, he did have a more important lesson to take away from the tickets he got
“I learned my lesson,” he affirmed. “I haven’t had any problems since then.” Dale Jr. is one of the executive producers of Full Speed. The docuseries has been very well received by drivers and fans since its premiere last month.

The instantaneous impact that Full Speed has been having on NASCAR
During the last race weekend, several drivers voiced their support for the Netflix docuseries and said that it was helping the sport generate new fans. One of the series main characters, Denny Hamlin said, “I thought it was a very good introduction for new fans. Because they also were kind of teaching you some 101 stuff, like, here’s how this works.”
Xfinity Series racer and Live Fast Motorsports co-owner B.J. McLeod compared it to the Hollywood hit Days of Thunder and mentioned that it had the best potential since the movie to attract new fans. He said, “It’s something that people should see, and I think that it was an unbelievable opportunity for NASCAR to have that on Netflix.”
The docuseries chronicled the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series playoff run and featured others including Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Ross Chastain, and Dale Jr., himself.
