Another bad Lakers mistake is in the spotlight as…
Rob Pelinka and the Los Angeles Lakers frontal office haven’t made the stylish opinions in the last many times. While it has not been each bad, there have been some questionable opinions that would warrant utmost GMs getting fired. rather, Pelinka got an extension.
Whether it be giving up on players too soon or missing the chance to bring in a truly poignant player, Pelinka hasn’t showcased the stylish capability to maximize the gift on the canon.
That being said, there have been some huge successes for Pelinka, particularly on this Laker’s platoon. Lonnie Walker IV was a signing that not a lot of people agreed with for the TPMLE and he has been a disclosure for the Lakers this season. There’s also Austin Reaves, who has been doing his stylish Alex Caruso print this season.
Unfortunately, there’s still a bad side to a really good thing. Reaves agglomerating out for the Lakers has been an extremely ate point, but it also spotlights another mistake that the frontal office made that was extremely avoidable.

Los Angeles inked Reaves to a two-time contract previous to the 2021- 22 season. At that time it was clear that the platoon didn’t completely believe in the undrafted novitiate despite all of the hype around him. Reaves ’ payment wasn’t indeed guaranteed for the 2022- 23 season.
Now Reaves is playing far above what he’s making and is raising his price for free agency coming summer. The Lakers are going to have newfound cap space and are going to have to spend a decent knob of it on retaining Reaves when they didn’t have to do that.
The Lakers could subscribe Reaves to a three or four- time contract to lock up a youthful player for longer. Indeed if they weren’t completely confident in Reaves being a long-term option, they could have attached a club option to the third or fourth time that would have given them insurance.

rather, the platoon did no similar thing and is letting Reaves his request as a confined free agent over the summer. Los Angeles has the right to match any offer that Reaves agrees to but that’s only going to increase his price.
Indeed when the Lakers get effects right they still get part of it awry, which is why this canon has had veritably little thickness over the last three seasons. Hopefully, the platoon won’t get priced out on Austin Reaves and will be suitable to bring him back at a decent price.
